Teaching Resources

All Les Mills’ instructors are issued with a Program Manual at their initial training module. The manual sets out the five key elements of teaching as they relate to the program concerned, as well as defining the essential nature of the program and, in most cases, the correct technique for executing the key moves involved.

Instructors keep this manual throughout their career and use it as a constant point of reference for maintaining teaching excellence.

Instructors are also provided with the first of the quarterly Program Kits which provide the core resources necessary for teaching classes.

These consist of:

Program DVD

The DVD contains a master class demonstration of the new program release – the latest of the classes that are created and distributed by Les Mills every three months. The classes are designed by Les Mills’ Program Directors who present the master class – often with assistance from Les Mills’ national trainers from other countries.

The DVD also contains education lessons that accompany each of the program releases. ‘Focus and feel’ lessons help instructors understand and master the release, while others may deliver tuition in specific aspects of the program.

Choreography notes

Distributed in booklet form, the notes describe in detail all the moves in the new class. Instructors must study these closely and practise them until they can teach them perfectly.

Music CD

The CD contains all the music tracks that accompany each of the LES MILLS™ classes.
