I went through the Body Pump training in January....sent my video in, so hopefully in a few weeks and I'll be an certified instructor!

I currently am an instructor at the YMCAs of Southern Indiana in Jeffersonville and New Albany. I teach Turbo Kick, Hip Hop Hustle, Body Pump, Abs, Pedal and Pump, Kid's Circuit, and Cycling every week, but often sub for Circuit, Step Circuit, Ride and Run, Zumba, and pretty much any other class but pilates and yoga...I'm thinking about getting into them though. Body Pump is the certification I need to become a REAL instructor, and it's something I NEVER NEVER saw myself doing!

I love Body Pump and I'm SOOOO excited to finally start teaching it! I'm very picky about form because of how badly someone can injure them self and not get results, so I'm glad I went and learned EXACTLY how the form should be so I can help everyone!

My Fitness Story:
I gained 35 pounds my freshman year of high school in 2003 because I was introduced to french fries, Chinese food, and buffets galore! I won a free month to the Y and kinda got into exercising in 2004, but I still had POOR eating habits and rarely worked out, so my body stayed overweight. It wasn't until the middle of 2005 when I decided I needed to make a change.
I joined Weight Watchers and committed to exercising EVERY SINGLE DAY, no matter what! I joined group exercise classes including Body Pump and that's when I started to stick to my NEW lifestyle! I lost the weight, COMPLETELY reformed my body, and have been living a 97% healthy lifestyle ever since.
I always felt like I could possibly be an instructor and in Sept. of 2007 I decided that I finally wanted to make that dream real by getting Turbo Kick certified. That opened the door into the world of teaching. I BOMBED in the beginning and it wasn't until June of 2008 that I really started to find my teaching style and who I was as an instructor. Now I'm completely comfortable and I am able to teach every class offered at the Y, but I never felt I was gonna be a REAL instructor until I could say, "I'm a Body Pump Instructor."
Body Pump is something I never even considered doing because you had to be REALLY good to teach it and 100% perfect....something I never thought I could get close to. But over the past couple of months I've thought..."Maybe I could be one someday."..
Now that dream may come true! I just sent in my video.
I have 100% faith in myself that I'll do well because of what I've learned over the years of taking Body Pump and the training. I've been instructed well...thanks to Lara Helena...and I believe I will soon be saying, "I'm a Body Pump Instructor!"

My next project......Body Jam? Looks pretty amazing!
