Profile

Discovered LMI programs about six years ago, and was hooked immediately.

I'm a married mother of four; two boys (ages 16 & 7) and two girls (10 yr. old identical twins.) I didn't always love to exercise, in fact, I didn't get serious about it until after I graduated from college. Now, I can't imagine not doing it. I love fitness. In addition to Combat, I'm a faithful Pumper, too.

Whenever I hear people complain about exercise, I know they aren't participating in Les Mills classes.

I'm doing everything I can to ensure that my children grow-up loving to exercise and being active. Being healthy is a choice, and like most things, it requires commitment, a little sacrifice, and the occasional (well, a lot of) blood, sweat and tears! :) But what you get in return more than makes up for it. I love to sweat. I love the feeling of a great work-out. If for some reason I ever miss a day, my husband can always tell. He says that exercise is mental therapy fo
r me. I think he's right.

Hey Kathleen,

Thanks for the message! I received my assessment via email a couple of days ago. It was about a three-week turn around time from when I submitted it.

Kris got her assessment back four or five weeks after she submitted hers, and she passed. So, I don't think you should read too much into the amount of time it's taking.

I understand that these assessments go to one of a number of assessors around the country, so it may just be that yours got sent to a particularly busy one. Honestly, I wasn't expecting mine for another week or two, so I think I just lucked out with a quick assessor.

I'm sure you did great and it's just a matter of time before your assessment arrives!

I would love to TT with you! Let me know when you want to do it and I will make it work.

I'm sure you'll pass the assessment with flying colors. I keep hearing that LMI doesn't expect perfection, but they look for the ability to bounce back if there is a mistake. The "perfect" class seems to be a rarity, even with accomplished instructors.

By the way, I think Julie passed you because you deserved it!

What impressed me during initial training was your thoughtful approach to cueing/coaching and the fact that you kept plugging along even though you weren't feeling well. And that lunge track had some really tricky timing--it was the hardest track for me to learn.

One more thing: CONGRATULATIONS on getting your own class! That's awesome. I wish I was closer to SLC so I could see how a pro does it!

Kathleen,

I haven't heard anything yet, other than receipt of my video. If you go into the My Account link and then click on the Program History link, it will show when your submission was received and when it was sent to the assessor.

You may remember Kris from our certification class. She sent her video in at the end of August and she got her results about a week ago. She passed, and I guess the assessor gave her A LOT of feedback (four pages worth...I understand that's normal).

The quarterly was a lot of fun. Of course, I was a quarterly "virgin" so it was all new. It was a great excuse to hang out at the gym for 10 hours! I got to try BodyStep and BodyAttack (I had never done them before). I saw Whitney and Candice from our certification class.

I'm scheduled to teach a few classes here and there for October. Tomorrow is my first class, and I am really excited! I've been able to do some team-teaching, and that has lowered my anxiety level a bit.

Kathleen,

I mailed my BP video yesterday, and it was a huge relief! I felt really good about my video, there were 10 participants who really participated. The engery level was great; it was an awesome class. I know I messed up in the Warm Up--I completely missed the shoulder set--but I just kept rolling with it. I tend to struggle a bit with the 2/2's as well, usually if I'm trying to coach.

I've heard that you're not expected to be perfect so the assessor can offer feedback. I hope (fingers crossed) that is the case!

Since I'm a brand new instructor, I figure I had better attend the Quarterly. I guess we'll see how it goes. If you change your mind, it would be great to see you there!

The first time I team-taught in front of an actual class, I thought my rear leg was going to shake right off my body. I've never shaken like that. But as soon as the WU was over, I felt pretty good.

Great to hear from you!

Just wanted to say hello and see how you're doing. I know you were sick during our BP training, and I thought you were such a trooper for sticking it out! You have such a thoughtful, clever way of expressing yourself...I'd love to take one of your classes!

Are you planning to attend the Quarterly in Ogden?

I hope you're doing well!

Hey Kathleen,

Glad to hear your mojo is back and firing. I know that you will be awesome...and feel your determination to get there. So, set your eyes on the prize, but allow yourself a few mistakes along the way. It is in the trenches that we grow the most. :) Take it from a girl who's been flat on her face many times. Keep in touch and fill me in your journey as it rolls along.

Kia Kaha,

Julie
