Hmm..I suppose that I should fill this out huh? I'm currently the Fitness Director at the South Family YMCA in West St. Paul, MN. I have been there for over a year now. Prior to that I was the Senior Fitness Coordinator at St. Croix Valley out in Hudson, WI! I've been teaching Group Fitness since January 2001. I started out teaching step classes to homeschool moms at SE in Woodbury and then fell in love with Spinning. In fact it became so important to me that I started racing my mtn bike. When I joined the YMCA in 1999, my children were 5 and 2 and I weighed in at over 220lbs. YIKES!! I started taking group fitness classes and found them to be very motivating! I lost 80lbs over the course of 18 months. These instructors were so motivating that I took it to the next level. Who would have thought that I would have gone back to school for Exercise Science? But, I did it!! Unfortunately, I have become highly "accident prone" over the past few years. In July 2001 (right before my 10 year class reunion) I broke my leg racing my mtn bike at Spirit Mtn in Duluth, MN. In July 2004 I broke my right foot teaching a step class. THIS is why it is so important to never "jump" off of the step and always on! I was in the middle of a turnstep and I thought I twisted my ankle. (no such luck) In December 2006 I did the most damage to my body by tearing my ACL and meniscus in my right leg playing dodgeball. It has been a horrible year trying to recover!

People always ask me...what can you teach? Well, almost anything! I'm not a huge fan of the "mind body" classes though. Les Mills..I have been certified in Bodypump since release 43. I went through Bodyflow training during release 26 and I haven't taught it since. (just not for me) I just went through Bodyvive with the big group of YMCA staff from the twin cities. It's hard to keep fizzin' with energy with the holidays so close...but I'm doin' my best!!! I can't believe we're launching it on January 5th.

I'm also certified in Pilates, AOA, SilverSneakers, Yogastretch, Kickboxing, Step, Spinning, and YMCA Group Cycling (trainer).

When I am not at the YMCA, I am home with my kids and my fiance! I have a 12 year old son and a 9 year old daughter. They keep me busy to say the least! My wedding date is set for August 29, 2008. Hard to believe that I am going to be doing the "big white dress" again!!

Thanks for all the info!! I hit the jack pot at powermusic, now all I need is some money!!:)
The pre chorey stuff is out now and I bought the first DVD but it wasn't really worth the money. The les mills ones are cheeper and better quality so I think I need to go out of my comfort zone and come up with my own stuff. You are an awesome resouce!!! I owe you a BV class or two!!!!:)
Take care!

Thanks for the "Wow." I forget how big I was!!:) I would totaly be tempted to come and teach at your Y but with gas prices the way they are I wouldn't even break even teaching two classes. :( If gas ever gets resonable again, I'd love to teach for you!! Do you have some good sites to buy music on? I need to come up with correy and music for Drums!!!
Have a great day!!!

I will try to juggle some things. I would love to be there. We all went to each other's launches when we got trained! I spoke to Lisa Gregory at the Q and she said you were all super nice. Can you e-mail me the 2 instructors email addresses again. (oh, and yes, I had the costumes made)

Hey Karren!

I was helping Jackie set up and realized that you were not on my friend list! Let your BS folks know that if they need any help, I am more than happy to do so. I am teaching 70 for Laurel Sunday so let them know that they are welcome to come on over to the WB and get some practice!
