Qualified To Teach

I am officially a physician now... it is exciting, overwhelming, and with it comes such a sense of responsibility that I am still in the process of digesting it all. I start my residency July 1, so keep me in your thoughts!! I hope to be able to continue teaching classes during residency, but it is going to be a struggle to juggle my schedule.

Taking a 40 hour cranio-sacral class next week!

~I am a doctor of osteopathy, recently graduated from Virginia Tech, but am residing in Indianapolis, Indiana, my hometown, where I will start my residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation. I will study to eventually work with chronic pain and physical rehabilitation with physical, occupational, recreational, and speech therapists. My background involves being a nationally certified massage therapist, specializing in sports, postural alignment, and myofascial release for the past ten years..(gosh, how time flies). I chose to be a D.O. or Doctor of Osteopathy because not only can I do everything an M.D. can do, but we are also educated in the art of physical manipulation which involves, spinal adjustment, muscle energy, facilitated positional release, and craniosacral therapies.

~My ultimate goal is to incorporate group fitness into my medical practice and join in the fight of 'Globesity', including whole foods nutrition education, holistic health care, and efforts in conservation.

Cindy	Came across your profile and you have some of the same group of "friends" Best of luck in your residency...I worked as a nurse for 8 years and now doing the stay at home mom/fitness instructor now so I know how hard residents work!! Best of luck and hope you can juggle all the things you love to do!

there are a lot of cool people on this site but I have to say, you are one of the coolest
That is amazing that you are incorporating your background in massage and healing into medicine and fitness
I LOVE IT
I too teach BP and BC (and BS and BA) and have another "day job"
I love making new LM friends so hope to get to meet you at a Q or other event somewhere
Until then, have a blast surfing in HI (sounds like you TOTALLY deserve it!) and TURN IT UP
