Profile

Hey. I was born and raised in the hills of Tennessee. I have focused on my career for so long leaving little time for the personal and physical side of things. After getting my Master's degree in Nursing and landing a great job as a Nurse Practitioner for a neurosurgeon who I have worked with for the past 15 years, I decided to turn the other sides of my life around. I work mainly with patients who have cervical and lumbar difficulties: therefore, I continuously stress the importance of exercise to reach short and long term goals. At that point in my life, I knew I had to practice what I preached. So, I joined a gym and made exercise a part of my everyday routine. I have been interested in fitness in the past but never like I am now. Soon, the addiction was evident and I became so excited about motivating my patients to make a step in the right direction. My favorite class is Body Pump which has significantly improved all aspects of my well being.

I am always setting goals for myself that I strive to achieve. For the past three years, I have made a New Year's resolution to start a new hobby which is sport related. First, maintaining a routine exercise program for weight loss and cardiovascular fitness. Secondly, I started working on my scuba diving certification here in Tennessee and finished it in Bonaire in 2006. I obtained my Primary Group Certification in 2007. I am currently working on achieving my Body Pump Certification. I have never taught a fitness oriented class so this has been a BIG challenge for me and one that has been difficult to conquer because I started this journey in the Summer of 2007 and later that year my mother became deathly ill and I had to put my life on hold so I could be by her side throughout a liver transplant and stabilizing her condition for many months to follow.

It has been a very long and trying journey but we made it through and my mom is still here with me and continues to support my every move. My father and mother stand behind me and give me the wind beneath my wings. I want to say thanks to the crew at Les Mills in Texas for being so understanding and lending a word of support with every step. I feel like I know Reuben personally. HaHa. He has been that voice I needed to hear to keep me going toward achieving a goal that I almost set aside.

In closing, I hope to meet some great friends through Les Mills. As I see it, we are a family and we must stick together across the miles.

Hey Carla,

Hope you are well!

So, I took the plunge and entered the wax lyrical comp. It’s so fun and way out of my comfort zone though! Please check it out and vote for me! You can see it at http://www.lesmills.com/southcentral/en/members/bodyjam/wax-lyrical-videos.aspx

THANKS!

Hey Carla,

Thanks for the add. I saw you were from TN. I'll have to ask my husband where exactly that is. He is a real estate appraiser and knows where everything is! I'm glad to read that your mother is doing better. What a gift you are to her!

You asked me for tips on taping. I would say tape and send it in. If you have already taped and got a resubmit then work on those areas needing attention with your gfm or a friend who has excelled in those areas and retape. I'm learning that we (instructors) are harder on ourselves than they will be (from my experience)!

In terms of practical tips I would say if you have the choreography down the rest will follow much easier so make sure to have that down first and foremost and then review all the other stuff (coaching, fun music emphasis, etc.).

I hope all this helps. Please keep me posted and I'll be seeing you at the end of June!!

Many Blessings,

Trillia
