Social psychologist and best selling author Prof Robert Cialdini is the worlds leading authority on the “art” of influence. Cialdini refers to the practice of influence as ‘the likelihood someone is more willing to say yes helping you improve the chance of getting what you ask for.

As group fitness instructors we are continually asking people to say ‘YES’ to the requests we make of them. Whether it is 8 more press ups, 30 seconds of top pace, or simply asking people to relax their shoulders, the more a class participant complies with our coaching the greater degree of influence we have. The power of this is self evident as with greater influence we increase our ability to truly take participants to a place they could not achieve by themselves.

Cialdini identifies 6 key principals in the universal art of influence – let’s briefly look at each and consider how they can potentially impact upon the way we prepare, deliver and provide our group fitness experience.

Hey, Phil! How are you doing these days? I'm sure you're swamped with Attack and RPM presentations all over.

Any plans for a US visit soon?

I'm having a blast getting ready to launch BA 62 later this month and love the toe tap drill.

Have a great weekend!

Cheers from Austin,
Steve

hi Phil,

I was lucky on that fall, my bike was more shook up than I. What can I say, even the best rider fall off their bikes...

Having a blast in the first week of quarterlies: attack was awesome with Karin, you know, one of those days that nothing can go wrong.

Rpm is a beauty, got assessed by Mr Renata and it was Ok, got great tips concerning the rpm workshop in terms of creating a learning environment off the bike, great stuff.
Really anctious now to climb a few steps higher up on the ladder.

Life is treating me well at the moment, got 4 fantastic kids, a beautiful and caring wife with who I'm sharing one of my great passions with, HEAVEN (sounds familiar hein)

Hope life is treating you well too my friend.

Have a bloody marvelous week,

Pat and family
