Merry Christmas, 2008!!!!
WHOOHOOO!! Passed my pump video! I have such a fresh passion for this program now that I am teaching classes on a regular basis. As I build relationships and watch people change, inside and out, I am inspired and encouraged to continue this fight against globisity! Combat at Brooks continues to rock the house- come join us if you can fit in the room and take the heat.
What's that I hear? Could Jam be calling me, next? 2009 is just around the corner!
KIA KAHA, mind, body and spirit.
1/2/08
Kia Ora!
I am a stay at home mom to Gracie (7) and Ellie (4) in Jacksonville, Fl. I have been married to Prince Charming (sweet and totally hot) Jeff, for 12 years. They are the most precious blessing of my life!
I am also a Les Mills junkie! I started taking classes 6 years ago after the birth of my oldest daughter. I weighed in at 236 and could hardly get through combat. I was hooked, and in two years I lost over 80 lbs and became an instructor. I currently teach Body Combat, kickboxing, boxing, freestyle cycling, and LOTS of yoga. I have a deputy black belt in tae kwon do and a degree in theatre from FSU- using both to make my classes rock. My members call me "sybil" because I totatlly change personas for each classes- soothing and gentle in yoga, karoke pop star for cycle, rachel wanna-be for combat. I am also qualified to teach body step, but I am taking a break. I have set my sights on a pump cert in 2008 as I continue to change my body and evolve as an instructor.
Out side of the gym, my family is my top priority, but I also love to serve at my church. I attend a large contempory church with and awesome community of artists and musicians. I sing with a worship team that has produced 4 cds and many original and broadway musicals. My other passion is loving people through teaching them to honor their body, God's temple. I created and share 'Yo-God, an Exercies in Worship,' a faith based yoga-style class, to over 100 members in the Jacksonville area. Let me know if your ever in town and would like to join me!
2007 was a great year- God blessed me and my family so very much! I enjoyed this community so very much and look forward to meeting more of you in 2008.
Blessings-
peace, love and joye
Update 2/21/08
I wanted to grow our BC program at the Brooks YMCA here in Jacksonville. I started an email list, and began to send encouraging and fun emails to our group. The goal is to build a community of friends that trust and hold each other accoutable, not to mention make friends and have FUN! Here are some of my fun Body Combat poems. Good thing I got that there English degree, huh?
ENJOY:
Body COMBAT on Thursday, and also TONIGHT!
We'll bring the passion, YOU bring the FIGHT!
We're gonna scream, and burn it up RIGHT,
By this weekend you'll find your pants aren't so TIGHT!
Thursday night, we'll rock the floor
So get your booty in the door!
Amadeus we will ROCK
And the "system" we will SHOCK.
Just a clue for tracks to come,
5:30 tomorrow, get cha some!
(this one was when I had a sub so I could take the family to disney:)
'twas the night before combat,
as she cleaned the house,
to take hubby and kiddies
to hang with the mouse.
She annouced, with a grin
that Cathi was IT!
in her place, Thursday night,
So come ready to HIT!!
Set your mind, the body will follow,
fight fierce and strong and hard
come to combat, be ready to holla!
bulid mucle and burn some lard!
The countdown to launch has begun,
Come for some wicked fierce kickin' fun.
This Saturday, the 16th, Brooks YMCA
Come ready to fight, melt your backside away!
Don't think of skipping Thursday or tonight-
How are those pants? Maybe still a little tight?
So get ready, get set, bring a friend, win the prize-
your new body is calling, bigger muscle, smaller size.
A Valentine's Day Combat Poem:
Chocolate on Valentines,
such a treat
So many yummy things to eat
Don't wuss out and skip the fight,
Body Combat, Thursday night,
Bring a date to fight a round,
And THEN go out and paint the town,
Earn your right to induldge,
work off that candy fueled buldge.
Just show up ready for some pain,
Valetine's Combat is OFF THE CHAIN!!
Body Combat rocks the Y
The new release is super fly.
See me Thurday to get your fix
Thirty five percent more kicks
We'll build it, burn, the BC way-
show the Y Les Mills should stay!
Don't get up
and step on that scale-
and let it tell you who you are
Instead come sweat, come yell, come fight-
head high, chin up, rock star.
Let strength and passion be your guide
and when your day is through,
look back and know
you fought the fight
and birthed a stronger YOU.
There once was a girl who would hit,
Scream and punch, sweat and jump her way fit
Combat was the key,
to her victory,
And a tighter backside onto sit!
Body Combat rocks so loud
the entire gym will here us,
5:20 tonight, brand new time,
Same combat, twice as fierce.
Don't miss your chance to make a change,
Unlesh, unwind, undo
all the damage of the week
Fight strong, fight hard, fight true!
'T was the day before launch,
the release, it was near,
all over their bodies,
fat cells quivered with fear-
At 56 minutes,
BC Thirty Five
Burns so many calories,
They could not survive
Melt away, burn it up
Into sweat, strikes and kicks
Simply killer combinations,
Totally awesome music mix.
Meet the crew at 5:20
Thursday, 15th of May
Missy, Cathi and Jen
Join Joye in the fray.
So come for the work,
stay for the fight-
Body Combat kicks the launch,
Don't miss tomorrow night!!
good thing the writer's strike is over, hmm?
