Profile

It's about time I update my profile I guess! Five Points Washington has been open since October 1st of 2007 and we already have over 6,000 members!!!!! Craziness, I know! I am happy to say we now have Body Step, Body Attack, Body Pump, RPM, and we're launching Body Vive this Saturday. This place is AMAZING and I LOVE working here!!!!! I've never been in such a positive, upbeat, friendly facility!!!

Five of my instructors and I just went to the quarterly this past weekend in Wisconsin. It ROCKED!!! They always do!!!! It's great getting the team together for events such as though. Can't wait for Chicago!!!!!

Missed you at the Super - I so hope you had a blast! I had been there all week for the US Trainer Summit and had to get back home since I have another full time gig ya know? Glad you're feeling better - and back at the workouts. Keep me posted for sure. During the trainer summit Lisa gave the BA trainers a new workout - circuit - but hard core. Kicked my you know what! :)

Sometimes we end up teaching too much and we aren't getting stronger because of it. If you really want to get attack fit you may need to give up a class or two so you're body has the chance to recover and get stronger. Your best bet is interval training when you do cardio (for instance on a treadmill if you are going to do 45 minutes - walk briskly for 2 minutes at a very slight incline, then walk a huge incline at same pace for 1 minute really hard, walk briskly for 2 minutes back down, then on a flat incline sprint as hard as you can for 1 full minute, then recover completely for one minute walking very slowly - then repeat the process over and over. The key is to get anaerobic and then recover, etc. That is how you get your heart stronger. You also need to incorporate the challenge - but you need to go for it! I mean full out. Add strength training on your own in addition to BP - the key is to build your muscle tissue - especially key for plyometrics and power. Add some non-impact training in as well like biking, swimming, rowing, etc. The impact over and over and over will ruin you - I just got off 12 weeks from a stress fracture in my foot b/c I don't take my own advice. :) J

Girl - if it's a goal you have then go for it!! It is a blast being a trainer - especially an attack trainer. We kick our own butts in trainings. I'm beat after the first day every time!! On the web there is step by step details on how to apply. I'm not sure when the next bootcamp is - but get everything in order so you'll be ready to go. Keep me posted. :) J

Hi Joy! I am so glad to hear from you. I missed getting a chance to know you when I was out in your area. I have nothing but fantastic things about your teaching ability - I wish we had chatted at the quarterly. I am so glad you love BA - it is so unbelievably addictive isn't it? Congrats on your new position - I'm sure the club is great. Would love to get down that way some day and see it. Hope to see you again soon - thanks for the kind words. Maybe we'll be in Chicago in October for the Super together. See ya! :) Jo
