Welcome to the tribe of BODYBALANCE FREAKS!!
No. #399
My first BODYBALANCE class was back in March 2001 and it was the launch of Release #12. I had sustained a lower back injury and I joined the class to complement my physiotherapy. I had been watching it for some time from the gym floor and it got my curiosity, and from that moment my life has never been the same.
Being a participant wasn't enough, so now I became an instructor. I have fun with the role, and enjoy it. Some of my instructor friends think that I'm a little fanatical with my enthusiasm... wanting to know the latest and greatest news concerning BODYBALANCE.
Last year I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer a few days before the Ultimate Super Workshop in Sydney that showcased release #49. In this release, The Script's song 'Live Like You're Dying' was the Standing Strength and at the end of it I broke down knowing that this could be my last BODYBALANCE experience. It was difficult giving up something that I love and haunted by the uncertainty of the future.
Fast forward to a year later after two trips to hospital, I was back in Sydney with Jackie and release #53 which features The Script song 'For The First Time'. Well, I had been given the all clear by my doctors and found myself slowly working my way back to instructing again where 2011 marks my 10th year with this fantastic program.
It truly did feel like the first time...
