Updated in April 2012. - 4 years on, still loving Les Mills, although sadly had to quit Body Step (due to annoying knee issues, that probabaly go with age). Still going strong with BC, BP, BB and BJ, so much so, that after all these years finally decided to take the plunge and signed up for initial BP training. This is my first module, but hopefully BC will follow in the future. Determined to stay strong, healthy and keep learning to become an inspirational instructor.

LOL. Easy to get off-topic isn't it, but since we were talking about potential injury cures in a thread about injuries, we weren't straying too far off the beaten track. Glucosamine has good safety data, so certainly won't do you any harm, but it completely lacks any evidence that it is better than placebo. So personally, I wouldn't waste my money on the stuff. Similarly chondritin and all of the other herbal and over-the-counter "quick fixes" However, there are lots of proven effective treatments for a variety of knee problems. The best ones are available only on prescription or involve a procedure. If your knees are really playing up then it sounds like an appointment with a sports-med consultant is your best bet.

Hi Kati. I just wanted to leave a message for you regarding the BodyBalance thread on PNF stretches. I agree that it is a great forum for discussing things and do not at all blame you for the length of the thread. It doesn't worry me how long the thread goes. It has certainly brought out some interesting points! I have just found another poster on that thread very frustrating and was expressing that by my last comment. I don't really want to say any more but please, keep on posting! It is a great opportunity to ask questions and learn. Sam x

Hi! I'm so glad you get use out of any information I put out there. The forums are a great resource but trolling through the bogus material can be a challenge. I just try to use my own scope of practice to help when I can. :) I think you're definitely on the right track with an extended warmup prior to class. To complement this, let your physio know exactly what the class entails so that he or she can make a sound judgment on what you should or shouldn't do. Because the physio has "hands on" knowledge of your specific injury, he or she will be able to determine the best course of action. When you get back into STEP, definitely keep the impact low for the time being. I know it's got to be frustrating, but far better to take the time now than to not have the time later :). Keep me updated!
