Update 19/4/11 - I'm on 4 regular RPM's a week (was 5 to 6 but have cut down substaintially) and I'm planning on doing CX30 as my new program. Saw it launched at FILEX, looks AWESOME. I'm about to fill in my paperwork to get into some training. Bring it on!
Update 27/10 - Wow I have another two timetabled classes at a nearby gym who's just launching RPM. WOOHOO! that's 4 timetabled classes a week!
Update 15/9 - I got offered another time tabled class last week! Squee! So now I'm teaching my own classes twice a week, 9am Sunday and 6am Monday. I still teamteach Tuesdays and Fridays and have more covers than a know what to do with. I'm also launching RPM48 tonight - SQUEE!!! So cant wait :)
Update 15/7 - Well I seem to have covers coming out of my ears at the moment, I took three covers last week in addition to my own class, so I guess they like me, even had some participants say they really like my classes. Always an ego boost! Upon thinking of what I want to do next (and the gym has been nudging my about where I want to go from here) I've decided to upgrade my GEL qualification to a full Cert III in Fitness. That will hopefully open yet more doors for my new potential career, whilst allowing me to keep my current day job.
Update 7/6 - All my paperwork is now in, and I've been hired by my local gym to take the Sunday class. I did my first cover last Friday at short notice which went ok, and took my first regular class on sunday which went really brilliantlyl! My old mentor said something in my last ride with her ' once you get your own class you'll really settle down and find your own groove without people looking over your shoulder all the time'. I'm looking forward to finding my natural style and developing it without that extra pressure. Just me, my peeps and the ride! Bring on the future!
Update 3/6 - Whilst I'm still waiting for the 'official' paperwork to come through (damn Australia Post taking their time), I've been told I passed my assessment and have subsequently been offered timetabled class at my local gym with another 6 week cover starting in a few weeks. SQUEE! Now I just gotta get the rest of the paperwork finalised... paperwork paperwork paperwork.. ARGH!
Update 5/5 - well I sent my video in last week - waiting anxiously to see how I went. Meanwhile, my gym has asked would I consider doing the Step training next as they are going to be short an instructor. I kinda had my heart set on combat, but they have ample combat instructors. So the question to self is - do I do a program I like and will easily score a class in, or do I do a program I love but won't easily score a class in? Either way I'm not doing anything until I hear back about my RPM video!
Update 8/4 - Redid my video last night despite not even looking at the original. Last week I felt stilted, awkward, and wrong on so many levels. This week I was relaxed, and enjoyed it alot more, as did my participants! Just waiting to pull it off the camera, give it a look over, then send it in :) YAY!
Update 1/4 - well I did my video last night. Not overly happy with it. It didn't feel comfortable and I was focussed way too much on my technique and chorey than enjoying the experience with my participants. When I get the DVD off the camera I'll have a good look at it to see if its still submittable...if not - will tape it again!
Update 24/3 - well after some awesome comments from one of my mentors we've decided to do my RPM assessment video next week on the wednesday evening class. They're a great bunch of peeps and I really look forward to involving them in this experience. Excitement!!!!
Been attending a Les Mills gym in the Hawkesbury area of North West Sydney since 2007. Hooked on RPM, Combat and Balance. Now I've passed my RPM assessment (June 2010) and picked up a class (plus a few covers) I'm considering my gym's request to take up Step... hrmm. Combat is my true passion other than RPM but they've got 3 other Combat instructors plus one in training so getting a class there wouldn't be likely. Decisions decisions!
Other useless info, I'm a deputy captain in my local fire brigade, also the brigade's training officer. I was deployed to Victoria in Feb/March 09 to fight the fires there, then up to Rockhampton in Queensland in October. Not bad for a girl!
I also own and ride horses in what little time I am not spending at the gym :)
