Can music help you maximize your yoga poses?

Posted in Newsfeed, Instructors

Forget the clichés, enjoying the benefits of new yoga doesn’t rely on bending and stretching to the blissful sounds of serenity. A powerful soundtrack can be key when it comes to maximizing the benefits of yoga. The latest BODYBALANCE™ workout proves it.

If you’re looking to build strength, improve flexibility and walk away feeling calm and centered the latest BODYBALANCE release is where it’s at.

The workout kicks off with a playful Tai Chi Warmup and a series of super soothing Sun Salutations that create a blissful sense of calm. Then it’s straight into one of the workout highlights, an invigorating and powerful Standing Strength track that Program Directors, Jackie and Diana say will give you goose bumps.

This track one of our favorite Standing Strength tracks ever – and that’s because you really can get lost in the music.

For almost eight minutes the inspired sounds of In Colour by New Zealand band Shapeshifter play. This powerful blend of heavy soul and drum n bass will motivate you through a series of standing strength poses including Down Dog, Warrior 1, Warrior 2, Sun Warrior and Joyous Warrior.

Thanks to this uplifting soundtrack you are able to stay in the various warrior poses for longer than might otherwise be possible. There is more opportunity to focus on mastering technique, you can better connect with your breathing and you are able to really enhance the poses. As a result you feel solid and grounded, which is the secret to effectively strengthening and toning the whole body.

As BODYBALANCE regulars will attest to, a strong and toned body isn’t the only benefit. BODYBALANCE improves flexibility and is the ideal complement to all other exercise. It can help you establish a greater connection between your body and your breathing, focusing your mind and leaving you with a sense of wellbeing and calm. You can find out more about the benefits here.

If you haven’t tried yoga before then BODYBALANCE is a great introduction. If you’re already doing some form of yoga you’ll love the variety you get with BODYBALANCE – it combines simple yoga moves with elements of Tai Chi and Pilates.
