Four reasons you should eat berries:
- Blueberries are the best source of antioxidants on the planet. Rich in vitamins A and C, zinc, potassium, iron, calcium and magnesium, the tiny blueberry is well armed for fighting infections. They’re also high in fiber, low in calories and some studies suggest they help prevent mental deterioration.
- Strawberries are a close second in the antioxidant division. They’re also full of dietary fibre, magnesium, folic acid, potassium and contain more vitamin C than any other berry. Strawberries also contain anthocynanins and ellagic acid which have been shown to fight cancers.
- Raspberries, just like the strawb, contain cancer-fighting anthocynanins and ellagic acid along with vitamins A, C and E. They’re also loaded with fibre and folic acid which has been linked to reduced cholesterol and stroke risk.
- And, last but not least, cranberries. Along with their well-known usefulness in treating urinary-tract infections, these tiny fighters have also been linked to the prevention of gum disease and stomach ulcers.
