BORN TO MOVE™ gets hundreds moving and having fun

Posted in Youth

600 school kids, pumping music, enthusiastic teachers, a double Olympic Champion and a whole heap of energetic jumping, kicking, air punching and dancing … It all came together when Les Mills debuted BORN TO MOVE™ at the Hornchurch Sports Centre’s Legacy Games Day.

On Thursday October 16, 2014 the United Kingdom’s Legacy Games Day was buzzing when more than 600 eight to eleven year olds celebrated the launch of Les Mills BORN TO MOVE™.

The enthusiastic children were cheered on by Double Olympic gold medal winner Rebecca Adlington, OBE as they were led through a taster of the programs by BORN TO MOVE™ teachers Bas Hollander and Gio Sacco. Bas and Gio then led all 600 children in a group BORN TO MOVE™ performance, which wowed VIPs, stakeholders and the media.

Keith Burnet, CEO of Les Mills UK,  says that the event was an incredible success. “Everyone was thoroughly impressed with BORN TO MOVE™, the concept and the way in which it engaged with and captured the imagination of the young participants. But most importantly the kids loved it.  One little boy said it was the best thing he’s ever done!”

Keith adds that the Legacy Games Day was the perfect fit for BORN TO MOVE™. The Legacy Games Day is organized by Fit For Sport – the UK’s leading provider of children’s activities – in partnership with Everyone Active to deliver a legacy of sport, competition and community engagement to children aged seven to eleven. The initiative recently won the coveted ‘Inspired by 2012 Mark’ from the Cabinet Office which is awarded to organizations whose successful projects and events have been inspired by the London 2012 Games and their legacy.

BORN TO MOVE™ classes are now available at the Hornchurch Sports Centre, which is operated by Everyone Active, as well as nine other Everyone Active centres.
