Les Mills UK has today announced its partnership Cancer Research UK Race for Life - the world’s leading cancer charity which aims to beat cancer sooner through life-saving research.

Les Mills plans to become a significant charity partner of Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life fundraising event series through direct donations from its SH'BAM™ revenues. The partnership will also include Charity Fundraising toolkits for Instructors and a 30-day free trial of Les Mills On Demand for all Race for Life participants.

Les Mills UK CEO, Martin Franklin, said: “We would like to thank Cancer Research UK Race for Life for the positive way we have been able to discuss how we can join forces to raise more awareness and fundraising for this vital cause.

We aim to bring a great deal of the fun, entertainment and energy that exists within our Instructor Tribe and club partners to support their fantastic work and raise even more funds into 2017 and beyond.

Having attended various Race for Life events over the past 20 years with my family including the amazing event in Heaton Park this year, the inspiration and positivity in getting more people active is so aligned with our company vision that we just had to support and get involved.”

Like Les Mills, Cancer Research UK Race for Life is committed to helping people stay physically active, eat a healthy balanced diet and maintain a healthy weight. Cancer Research UK’s core purpose is to prevent, diagnose and treat more than 200 types of cancer. Research shows that that more than 4 in 10 cancers could be prevented, largely by lifestyle changes, so the charity is increasingly focused on encouraging people to live healthier lives.

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is the UK’s largest women only event series with over 500,000 women taking part in the 5k, 10k, Pretty Muddy and Marathon events each year, raising around £50m to help beat cancer sooner.

Cancer Research UK’s, Clive Sanders, says:

“As the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, we have a responsibility to encourage everyone to seek healthier lifestyles in order to reduce their cancer risk. Taking part in a SH’BAM class is a great way to keep healthy and active throughout the year as well as attending the amazing Les Mills LIVE events throughout the year across the globe.

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life event series is renowned for being an inclusive, supportive, non-competitive and accessible event for women of all ages and fitness levels. Partnering with Les Mills on SH’BAM offers us a unique opportunity to encourage our participants to take part in regular exercise in a similarly fun and supportive environment at venues across the UK.
