Twenty two per cent of all people surveyed use DVD or pre-recorded workouts at home and for high frequency gym attendees the number of people doing these types of workouts at home is 45%.
What’s more, over the past decades popular home workout products like the Jane Fonda Workout, Tae Bo, Zumba and P90X have helped increase the number of people participating in fitness activities, raise the profile of the industry and have driven people into gyms and fitness facilities.
The Nielsen research found:
- 82% of gym members or casual members also exercise at home
- 45% of high frequency gym attendees also use a DVD/pre-recorded workout at home
- Of those who only do gym-type activities at home the top choices are (multiple choice):
- Free weights 43%
- Yoga 26%
- Dance 16%.
