Impact

You’re more than an Instructor – you’re a catalyst for positive change. But at your next launch event, your impact will go even further – 25 years further, in fact.

As a Les Mills Instructor, you’re already transforming lives – helping people become stronger, healthier, and more confident, both physically and mentally. But in September, your launch event will do even more: it will help protect our planet, leaving a lasting legacy far beyond the studio doors.

Since 2024, Les Mills has partnered with veritree in its mission to plant millions of trees worldwide, creating opportunities for communities and restoring vital landscapes. Together, Instructors and clubs are building a more sustainable, equitable, and thriving future for all.

Les Mills already plants 10 mangroves in Africa and Brazil, on your behalf, for your Initial Training. These incredible trees act like CO₂ sponges – absorbing huge amounts of carbon not just in their branches and leaves, but deep in the soil.

Mangrove tree

To celebrate your role in contributing to a fitter planet, the Q3 release filming featured a lush, natural environment with real native trees, buzzing insects, and even a snail named Katy Perry. This wasn’t just a set; it was a living, breathing ecosystem.

Q3 release Director Steve Baker shares how this project opens new doors to storytelling:

“The design and planning were inspired by conversations with Phillip and Jackie Mills and their commitment to creating a healthier and more sustainable planet. This was more than showcasing our efforts; it marked the beginning of weaving meaningful, purpose-driven storytelling into our Masterclass filming. We teamed up with amazing partners like Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei to create a zero-waste set that can be returned to the earth, being replanted to give back for generations to come.”

Now, here’s where you come in:

In Q3, Les Mills will plant 50 mangroves on your behalf for a launch event your club hosts. On average, each mangrove absorbs 0.31 tonnes of CO₂ over its lifetime. That means your launch event will have the equivalent carbon impact of at least four long-haul return flights – like London to New York – over its lifetime. Quite a legacy!

We invite you to work with your club and encourage them to host an event this September, so Les Mills can plant as many trees as possible to maximize our collective impact!

Read details on how your club can register your event.

Here’s just how powerful your impact will be:

15.5 tonnes of CO₂ is equivalent to:
  • Driving 64,500 km (40,000 miles) in a petrol car. That’s 1.5 times around the globe!
  • Powering a typical UK home for over 4 years.
  • Eating 3,100 beef burgers.
  • Producing and shipping about 470 pairs of jeans.
  • 1 person charging their phone every day for over 12,000 years.
