Tell us about your Fitness career so far
After completing my sports degree, I planned to go into personal training at a Bannatyne health club. I ended up being put on a BODYCOMBAT course (had no idea what this was?!).
After moving into gym management in Bristol, I was surrounded by great Les Mills Instructors and this inspired me to up my game! I was lucky enough to be invited to presenter Bootcamp and now present BODYPUMP™, LES MILLS GRIT™ and CXWORX™ on the UK team. I also deliver Initial Module Training and AIM. I’m lucky to have such a rewarding job.
If you weren’t a fitness instructor, you would be….
I would be involved in sport in some way, even if I was a steward at the Millennium stadium in Cardiff!
I grew up in a small village called Fochriw (Go and find a map!)
What’s your ideal day off?
A lie in! I’d go for a long walk with Lauren and Lola (my pug). Then I’d have a massive brunch and spend the afternoon in a beer garden with friends catching up on the week. :-)
How long have you been in the industry?
12 years! I know I don’t look that old lol.
What made you become a Les Mills Instructor?
It was luck. Another instructor at my club wasn’t available for the BODYCOMBAT course they were put on so I was thrown in. I was only cleared to shadow at the time (there’s hope for everyone!) but I spent a long time in the studio to earn my qualification. It was the level of training and sense of achievement that made me go back and do BODYPUMP.
What’s the highlight of your career?
Being involved in Les Mills Live Manchester was such an awesome experience. After BODYPUMP and 3 LES MILLS GRIT CARDIO workouts my abs hurt for 5 days! The participants that day were amazing! You can watch Marc in action here (link to GRIT video).
