MEET JOHN

He’s a physical therapist, dancer and Les Mills Trainer & Presenter. You may have seen him on stage at Les Mills Live.

Tell us about your career in fitness so far

I’m a physical therapist and professional dancer, so joining Les Mills was a natural fit for me. I get to do what I love surrounded by like-minded people. I get to perform and help create a fitter planet.

I’ve been in the fitness industry for 20 years and I’ve been a part of the Les Mills Tribe for over 15 years. I’m a Trainer and Presenter in BODYBALANCE™, BODYSTEP™, BODYJAM™, and SH’BAM™, and I teach BODYPUMP™. Teaching new Instructors has now become my passion. Outside Les Mills I also enjoy teaching dance and Pilates.

Why did you become a Les Mills Instructor?

I fell in love with BODYJAM™ in 2002 and tried most of the programmes since then. I got hooked by the science and the art that Les Mills brings together to create every new release. All releases are backed by experience and research. There’s a huge system behind creating the programmes and a real community to go with it. That’s why I became a Les Mills Instructor.

What’s your ideal day off?

A trip to one of my favorite cities and tasting all of the great food on offer – Hong Kong, Bangkok, Manila, Paris, Amsterdam, Taipei.

What’s the highlight of your career?

I have lots of highlights from my day to day classes; from the drops in every BODYJAM hit, to the warrior poses in BODYBALANCE and the freedom of dance in SH’BAM. It is the smiles you see that makes teaching so worthwhile, whether in class or Instructor training. Recently presenting at Les Mills Live Dubai with the amazing Middle East Team alongside Rachael Newsham and Lisa Osborne was incredible. I will consider that the cherry on top.
