Expanding access to qualified Group Fitness Instructors
The Bridge Model is a streamlined pathway for aspiring group fitness instructors to gain a Level 2 qualification, combining:
• Active IQ Level 2 Anatomy & Physiology
• A Les Mills Initial Training module
It’s designed for individuals aged 16+ who are:
• New to group fitness, or
• Already teaching but lack a formal Level 2 qualification
How it works
Learners book their Les Mills Initial Training and Bridge model through Les Mills Connect (for Instructors) or by emailing lmuk.clubs@lesmills.com (for clubs).
1. Active IQ hosts the qualification on a user-friendly e-platform with 60 hours of learning
2. Learners can complete these modules at their own pace with the support of Les Mills Mentors
Why Les Mills is Doing This
Les Mills is launching the Bridge Model to recruit more instructors into the industry and ensure clubs can meet growing demand. By lowering barriers to entry and offering a quality gold standard training. Les Mills aims to:
• Support clubs in staffing their timetables
• Ensure high-quality, consistent training standards
• Empower passionate individuals to turn their love of fitness into a career

The Bridge Model is a guided learning pathway offered in partnership between LesMills (LM) and EMD, supported by Active IQ. It is self-directed online learning which also includes 8 hours of structured learning delivered by Les Mills and an online exam for certification.

There are three main booking routes:

- FOR NEW INSTRUCTORS: Les Mills Course + EMD The Bridge please book via Les Mills Connect, you’ll find the Bridge Model add on option during the booking process.
- FOR EXISTING INSTRUCTORS: EMD The Bridge Only contact lmuk.instructor@lesmills.com

Yes, but only if they have previously completed at least one Les Mills training course.

Email LMUK.Clubs@lesmills.com. We’ll need your instructor names and email addresses. Instructors will need to set up a Les Mills account before we can complete the booking. Clubs can pay via invoice or credit card.

From 6th October, instructors can self-book via LES MILLS Connect by following the booking process and selecting the designated ticket type.

Club accounts can host in-house sessions if they have 20 or more learners.

Bookings are tracked via Salesforce using specific ticket types:
- “EMD THE BRIDGE ONLY”
- “LM Event Name + EMD The Bridge (B2B)”
- “LM Event Name + EMD The Bridge (D2C)”

Instructor details, billing information, and purchase order numbers. For card payments, note “Paid via CC” and ensure the correct amount is listed.

Reports are run monthly or fortnightly and sent to Leara for processing. Clubs using Site Entitlement must ensure it’s marked as redeemed.

Instructor data is shared securely with Active IQ. Registration is confirmed in the Active IQ dashboard. Please allow one week to receive your access to Active IQ online learning portal.

8 hours of guided learning split into eight 60-minute sessions:
- Session 1: Welcome & platform orientation
- Sessions 2–8: Module exploration & worksheet review

Via the Team Up calendar and Teams links provided in the welcome email.

Once ready, Les Mills team members schedule the exam via the Parnassus platform. Exams are online, 90 minutes long, and offer unlimited retakes.

Upon passing the exam, the Les Mills team generates and sends the certificate to the learner.
