Hussein's Initial Module Training Experience

Hussein Les Mills UK staff member loves to work out (naturally) and after some persuasion decided to take the plunge into being an Instructor, he's taken the time to share a bit of his experience with you guys.

"Last weekend I completed my first ever Initial Module Training in LES MILLS GRIT™. I wanted to share how I felt over the weekend for others who may be thinking about taking the leap. I know it would have helped me.

I was a pretty nervous as it was the first time I’ve ever done anything like this and I wasn’t really sure what to expect. But at the same time I was very excited to get started. The night before I rested up, as I knew it was going to be hard work, tiring, but a lot of fun too!

I felt prepared as I had plenty of time to learn my pre-allocated tracks that I knew I’d be assessed on over the course of the weekend, and I was sure that I’d get lots of advice and support on how to teach them well.

For me, the best bit of the weekend was when we got divided into small groups. We had to practice our technique and coaching skills. This part was awesome because I got to see other Instructors performing and getting really useful feedback. It helps you to see things in a way that you may not have thought of. You may think teaching in front of each other is scary, but it’s actually really supportive and helpful.

What was the scariest part? For me it was getting assessed. But now I’ve done it I feel amazing. I feel like I have learned a lot in short space of time. I have made new friends. And overall, I feel more knowledgeable. I did ache a lot after all the back to back exercise, but that was to be expected and totally worth it.

If you’re thinking about doing your Les Mills training, I would say go ahead and just do it because it’s going to be 2 days of fun where you will get to meet interesting people who love fitness, just like you. If you already teach, you’ll learn how to be an even better Instructor."

Send us your details here and we will be in touch about becoming an Instructor.
