In these uncertain times all of us in the fitness industry are finding it tough. We’re in this together and Les Mills want you to know that Instructors remain front of mind at all times. Read on to find out exactly how we are supporting you and your club right now.

Our goal is to keep everyone engaged and fit during this uncertain time.

Staying fit and active is a wonder drug for both mental and physical health, and our teams across the globe are hustling to make it super easy for people to exercise right now.

Ultimately, it’s most important that your participants are able to remain connected to you and to your club. This will allow your club to retain members, and to re-open as soon as possible. We are doing this in two ways:

1. You can now livestream workouts to your participants at home

The workouts in this YouTube playlist are different to your regular quarterly releases as they use royalty-free original music, so there are no music rights restrictions to livestreaming to your members. Les Mills-certified Instructors can teach all the workouts on this playlist, even if you aren’t certified in that specific program. Your club just needs to be closed due to Coronavirus and currently active with Les Mills Licensing. You should have received an email from your local Les Mills market team with details around this. If not, just drop your local team a note as we are all working hard to help you keep your members active!

(Please contact your club in the first instance to see how you can live stream through your club’s preferred channels).

We also have the Official Les Mills Livestream FB Group where our Program Directors are showcasing these workouts so you have a chance to work out with them.

Initial Module Training is Now ONLINE

A 2-day trainer lead module that offers the same great experience as live, but from your home! This is super exciting as it means you can still train in new programs, ready to support your club launch and pick up new classes once they re-open.

Advanced Training has been adapted to being at home

Advanced Training has now been broken down into two parts: you can complete the first three weeks now while you’re at home, and finish the last three weeks of applying the learning in your teaching when you’re back at the club.

In addition to the 6-week Online course, we will soon be offering a 2-day Online Advanced Training Course. This is an accelerated Advanced Training experience in 2 full days, similar to the live experience, rather than the self-directed Online Advanced Training Course across 6-weeks.

Certification options for those in the assessment process

While clubs are closed Instructors are being offered extensions on their video submissions plus global teams are finding creative ways to facilitate instructor certification that include Online Instructor Certification. Instructors should contact their local team to hear about the options available.

Les Mills and Zumba have partnered to fight for your rights

Despite normally competing in the group fitness sector, Les Mills and Zumba have put that aside to collaborate and speak with one voice for Instructors – and all self-employed, freelance and contract workers in the fitness industry – to be urgently included in government relief packages in the US and UK.

Along with Alberto Perlman, co-founder and CEO of Zumba, Les Mills Executive Director Phillip Mills is a signatory to a letters to US Congress leaders, and in the UK Les Mills threw its weight behind a major push from the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) on behalf of fitness industry workers. You can read about the initiative here.

The good news is that the UK Chancellor announced that self-employed workers would be able to apply for grants up to 80 percent of their normal income. And in the US government has also passed a motion that will include the self-employed, independent contractors in financial assistance programs in response to the Covid-19 crisis.

Talk to your local team for more information about income support during this difficult time.

Instructors – we want to hear from you! Please take a few minutes to share how we can help you during these times here.
