Creating an active lifestyle for all ages is a core part of Scandinavian Training Center's vision. With the launch of Les Mills BORN TO MOVE, the fitness chain has taken an important step in offering group training for children and youth – an initiative that has already received positive feedback from both parents and members. We spoke with Sara Bohman, STC's Group Training Manager, about why they chose to invest in this concept and how it contributes to a more active and sustainable lifestyle.
A Part of STC's Vision
STC with its 230 gyms in Sweden, has a strong and well-developed group training focus for adults but realized that something was missing. "Children’s training was something we previously lacked. Our vision is to enable an active and sustainable life for everyone. We want to get more people moving, and children and youth are so important – they are our future," says Sara Bohman.

BORN TO MOVE is a concept from Les Mills, developed for different age groups with music and movements that inspire the joy of movement. The training is adapted to children's natural movement patterns and development, making it both fun and engaging.
Positive Response from Parents and Children
Since its launch, the feedback has been very positive. "We enable both group training sessions and gym workouts for our adult members while their children are active. It’s a win-win for the whole family," Sara explains.
Having gyms offer group training for children is an essential part of creating sustainable habits. "We want children to develop a positive relationship with exercise at an early age. In the long run, this contributes to a healthier and stronger society," says Sara.
Beyond physical activity, BORN TO MOVE classes also provide social benefits. "Children get to learn new things, build relationships, and be part of a community. It’s so much more than just training."
Business Benefits and Member Value
For STC, the initiative is not just about public health but also about adding value for its members. "Where we offer BORN TO MOVE, the experience has been very positive. It has strengthened our ambition to provide training for children," says Sara.
The concept has also proven to be a success factor in attracting more families to STC and increasing loyalty among existing members. By offering a complete solution where both parents and children can train simultaneously, STC becomes a more attractive choice for families looking to integrate exercise into their daily lives.

Quality and Marketing
To ensure high-quality classes, STC has trained its instructors through Les Mills’ two-day certification. "It has been a very positive and well-structured training program that ensures we offer inspiring and safe sessions," says Sara.
Marketing for the concept has taken place both centrally and locally. "We have worked actively to spread the message about BORN TO MOVE to make sure parents and children become aware of it," Sara explains.
"DO IT!" – The Call to Other Gym Owners
For other gym owners and group training managers considering implementing Born to Move, Sara Bohman has a clear message:
"DO IT! BORN TO MOVE is pure movement joy, packaged and ready for all age groups. It is carefully thought out and well-planned, with music and movements that create training joy and, in the long run, a stronger public health."
STC’s investment in BORN TO MOVE demonstrates that gyms can be more than just a place for adults – they can also be a key area for creating healthy habits from an early age. By inspiring children with the joy of movement, STC is laying the foundation for an active and sustainable life – an investment in the future of public health.
